Statistically speaking, how large would the human population need to be to find an exact but unrelated copy of yourself, or something very close to you, just as consequence of probability alone?

This is the first math book on the /sci/ wiki, and I finished 1/3 of it and it's a shit book. It just helps refresh your memory, it expects you to already know pre algebra and other autism, barely gives you any definitions. What's an actual good book for a beginner? I read Quick Arithmetic by Carman, finished it but I am started to get loss at the area/perimeter/circumference section of this new book, this was not taught in quick arithmetic, all I was taught from that book was the 4 arithmetic operations, and how to use them on fractions, whole numbers, decimals and percent's.

Is it true that condensed matter physicists do both the experimental and theoretical part? Can I then get a good R&D job with a PhD in theoretical condensed matter?

couples of high-energy physics

No.13473765 ViewReplyOriginalReport
i have noticed a pattern: in high-energy physics (theoretical as well as experimental) there are a lot of husband-wife pairs in elite jobs in the same departments

examples:
ed witten and chairs nappi
shamit kachru and eva silverstein
marcus spradlin and anastasia volovich
andre linde and renata kallosh

1) why is this?
2) name others if you know any
