Undergrad Electrical Engineering here, am I supposed to read everything, ponder and do all homeworks in 1000+ pages textbooks, in order to understand the important basics ? not only in calculus but also in physics, circuit analysis, etc...the professors tend to recommend these huge books at the first line. And I feel a strong hunch that I should understand instead of rote memorizing the problem solving techniques.
