seldom do i see a roof entirely coated in solar panels. a roof replacement costs around 10k.
there certainly is a price-performance curve, but lower-efficiency shittier panels would still offset a non-zero amount of power costs. most roofs have zero real estate occupied by solar panels, so why would it not be rational to pursue manufacturing cost reductions, to the detriment of overall output?

1. Because higher efficiency is the tougher problem. Once that technology is developed, we can reduce weight and other factors. Furthermore, the reason they are so big and bulky is more the attachment system and handling weather. If it was in an isolated temperature/climate controlled lab, the product wouldn't be something that would cause strain to your roof.
2. Because people don't take it into account. They stop at "it will save me money" and takes so much effort to get a good analysis on current cost. If you have to go through all that again afterwards for the roof and then conclude the shit tier product is the answer, you'll lose everyone except people who would do that themselves.

How tf did you go from step 2 to 3? It looks like substitution but you fucked it up. Either way substitution won't be of any use, you have to use partial fraction decomposition to break up the fraction and solve the integral
