seriously, what the fuck is the problem with Hypothesis testing.

why is it so difficult to teach hypothesis testing? i have been teaching statistics for 5+ years yet hypothesis testing always puts me to my limits when it comes to teaching capabilities. no matter how hard i try to make it intuitive i still get plenty of ??? faces on the classroom.
Am I a brainlet? or is it because most people find it difficult to grasp the notions of probability? or maybe because hypothesis testing is just a collection of formulas from three statisticians who had fought each other and never agreed?
