On a hard disk, data is stored as "0" and "1". But more concretely, how is it stored?
I read that a disc is covered with magnetic particles and that an electromagnet changes the polarity of the particles to "write 1 or 0". But it's half the answer : what "write 1 or 0 "means ?!
Is it just clumsily written to say that 1 = north polarity and 0 = south polarity and that concretely the data is magnetic polarity ?
Or this electroaimant/magnetic particles create a relief for 1 and a flat for 0?
