I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

>Have sleepless night
>For some reason get more creative and can think more clearly
What is the scientific reason for this exactly? Shouldnt it be the exact opposite?

Are smart people dumb?

Assuming there is an after, we will get there shortly. If there isn't, it doesn't matter. So why are smart people always doing things and making a fuss?

(Re)learning math up to Real Analysis

No.14416022 ViewReplyOriginalReport
(Self taught) code monkey and mathlet here.
I recently started learning math starting with the basics of Prealgebra.
There is no shortage of math book lists, but most seem like people just throw whatever on there. Others are pretty vague about it or appear overkill. Like "learn some geometry", like how much geometry do I really need?

Can you guys personally recommend some books for self study?
Are there any books that cover high school topics in a more rigorous manner?
From I gathered, Lang's Basic Mathematics seems to fit that description but I wonder whether there are alternatives.

In general I'm happy about any advice on what topics and books I should work on to build a nice base before going into undergraduate level Analysis and Linear Algebra.

I told my students something fundamentally incorrect. One even tried correcting me and I doubled down on my incorrectness. I thought about it later.... And I was wrong. It's such a basic thing too.

Why can't I add Keywords?

No.14416138 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm using Mendeley, and I've been told to add keywords to these files. In internet tutorials I've seen, the option to add keywords is usually found after tags. However, the option doesn't seem to be there. Thanks in advance.

The program is Mendeley Reference Manager
