Myopia can be induced with minus spherical lenses,[35] and overminus in prescription lenses can induce myopia progression.[36][37] Overminus during refraction can be avoided through various techniques and tests, such as fogging, plus to blur, and the duochrome test.[37]

The near work hypothesis, also referred to as the "use-abuse theory" states that spending time involved in near work strains the intraocular and extraocular muscles. Some studies support the hypothesis, while other studies do not.[3] While an association is present, it is not clearly causal.[3]

I was watching this TV series called "Numbers" on my mom's smart TV and it was the episode about equations. It Said that cubic equations have no real world applications nor do any types of equations past quadratic equations. I think it is called "degree" right? Degree of equations? Is that true? Do cubic, quartile, and quintic equations and beyond really have no real world applications?

I use piecewise polynomials to have a practically continuous representation of sound signals. Depending on the span of each polynomial segment the degree is 7 to 18. I think that's useful, beats doing windowed sinc interpolation.

genetics and adjacent fields are not the most difficult to develop a working knowledge of from scratch since memorizing structure + function is about 80% of it. know cell types, organelle function, central dogma, transcription factors/gene expression, protein folding, and you should be set. then for application, make sure you know how to parse the newer literature to be up to speed. it's a lot more about concepts -> experimentation than the logic -> problem-solving of math, if that makes sense. (note, I'm not a mathematician)
