Pesticides and polio. Thread makes fairly plausible case to me and disputes the mainstream theory that better sanitation was the cause of polio epidemic due to it decreasing immunity to the virus, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polio#History
The wiki citation for the mainstream claim leads nowhere, I found this though. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0022519305001815
The claim that better sanitation caused disease that spreads through fecal matter seems way more implausible to me than epidemic caused by lead arsenate and DDT.
Crackpot antivax or true? His critique of the vax seems fairly moderate to me, claiming it was effective just not the miracle cure. Are there any good reviews of this. This twitter thread was my first exposure to this theory and trying to google critiques of the book/theory are all responding to much weaker arguments made by random idiots. The best critique I found was that the correlation between DDT and polio is reversed, with officials spraying areas affected by polio with DDT in order to kill mosquitos they believed to spread virus
