The definitive IQ Reader

No.13565420 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
This post will comprehensively relate the current state of IQ and race research utilizing top research from the field of psychology.

The place to start is Rushton & Jensen (2005) which summarizes all research up to that point. https://www1.udel.edu/educ/gottfredson/30years/Rushton-Jensen30years.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj9ttL0tM_yAhURGFkFHYCbA28QFnoECAUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0thbm3F_1RNZT8qZR5wmS5

The article was so comprehensive and thorough it wasn't truly critically evaluated within psychology for almost 13 years. This special issue from 2019 was devoted exclusively to critiquing it from various perspectives. https://www.mdpi.com/journal/psych/special_issues/race_differences_cognitive_ability

>Fully 13 years have passed since Rushton and Jensen (2005) published their review of race differences in cognitive ability. The article now has over 500 citations. Rushton and Jensen’s (2005) work was impactful, partly because it carefully pitted culture-only versus hereditation models of the cause of race differences in intelligence. The authors were also thorough (the article is 60 pages long) in that they reviewed literature across ten “categories of evidence” regarding which model was possibly true. Ultimately, Rushton and Jensen (2005) concluded that “some genetic component [exists] in Black–White differences in mean IQ.”

>Were they correct? What newer research has or will come to bear on this question? The special issue seeks high-quality scientific contributions regarding either Rushton and Jensen’s (2005) overall conclusion, or any of the ten categories of evidence they reviewed. Multiple perspectives are welcome. So too are reviews, new empirical evidence on the question(s), and articles that expand the scope beyond just Black / White comparisons. The contributions may focus on individuals as the unit of analysis, or feature aggregate-level (e.g., nations, regions, states) data.

I have ADHD and ever since I quit smoking a few months ago, I've been having frequent insomnia and poor sleep quality.
Since nicotine and caffeine are stimulants known to help with ADHD symptoms, could it be that I was self-medicating all these years and quitting aggravated my condition?
It's already been 3 months, so I think I'm already over the withdrawals.

how many times does something need to happen for you to be certain of the probability?

example if you flip a coin 100 times and you get exactly 40 heads 60 tails, should you just decide that theres a 40% chance to get heads?

What's up /sci/ I have a question about the vaccines. I just want to start off by saying this thread is not propaganda. I'm fully vaccinated, I thought it was the right thing to do. I also think it should be an individual choice and not forced on anyone.

My mother in law's partner died of a heart attack two weeks after getting his Astrazeneca shot. It was a shock to all of us, but he came from a family with a history of heart issues. I wrote it off as being due to that.

Tonight, my girlfriend got a text from her friend at work. Her friends mom died. It was blood cloths. She'd been in hospital for a few days with breathing issues caused by the cloths apparently, and... she just died suddenly. She was also fully vaccinated, I don't know which one she got. She had no prior health issues, unlike the mother in law's partner.

Two people dying like this in such a short span of time I can't ignore. I'm afraid and so is my girlfriend. Do the vaccines come with a death toll that we're not being told about? Or is it a coincidence?

I don't know why I'm even making this thread, I'm just fucking scared. It honestly isn't propaganda, I don't even know if I believe that the vaccines caused this. Maybe you guys can help with that? All I know is it's fucking weird, and I'm scared. So is she. Sorry for the essay, if it's a tldr situation then no worries.

Meth

No.13570707 ViewReplyOriginalReport
What is it that makes meth (and amphetamines more generally) so pleasurable and addictive for the brain? What is the 'loophole' in our brain chemistry that meth exploits so powerfully?
And why has there never been a plant that's evolved meth, since predators would be drawn to their fruit and spread them? Is it too complex to form naturally?

Memes

I am becoming fascinated by memes. What are some sources I should read on this? Should I start with Dawkins?

oh god
>been working on the same research with the same code for 2 years
>results have already been accepted and published once
>have to deliver a major report before tuesday
>found out a major mistake in a very obscure part, which makes the work basically useless
>can't not submit it or i'll lose grants and get a huge mark on the curriculum
fug, what do?
It's just undergrad research, surely it doesn't matter if I fake it, right?

What happens when electrons spiral to a stop? Do they just stay there floating around until something bumps them again?

I'm beginning to believe that AI actually replaces people

No.13572725 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Recently I notice an influx of Frogposters on other boards, its rather uncommon, allthough I'm one who almost always uses a frog in his threads. Add on top of that that alot of those frogposters use Certain phrases that sound eerie similar to what I'd say and some of the posts seem kinda generic. Add on top of that that a friend of a friend, disappeared recently and all they hear occassionally, every half a year or more from hin, but only via whatsapp and Facebook, and he also just uses common phrases that they should meet again but then never responds again. Any anon has a similar experience? are people beeing killed off and replaced with an AI copy of themselfes? How do we know that the 4chan i interact with is the same as yours and actually passes an AI filte ror some sort?
