If you really try, 1 year. In my city, that's the minimum amount of time you'd need to be enrolled in a CE/EE/CS undergrad program before being considered for an internship.
But if you're pretty lazy about it, probably 3 years.

And if we're being honest, I'd hire a bootcamp grad over a self-taught programmer. Here there are 9 month bootcamps that guarantee placement after it all ends. Your pay will probably be shit, but all you gotta do is move to a different company after a year or so and you'll get bumped to a competitive wage.

There are countless youtube videos man. Or pick up one of the thousand books on how to program.

After one year of programming pick up a book on data structures, then after another year pick up CLRS or whatever /g/dpt is raving about.

Actually not quite. While your kid was exactly half-German half-French, this is due to them having exactly two chromosomes of different nationalities. When they had a kid they donated a 23 chromosomes which paired up with the other. The recombination happening in your child's donor chromosomes isn't 100% exact in splitting, their donated chromosomes don't have to be 50-50 German-French. Therefore your grandkid likely isn't a 50-50 split, there's probably at least an extra 1%, but larger differences become progressively less likely however.
