if death from the coof vax within 1 day is extremely rare, a couple dying from the vax within 12 hours of each other should be astronomically rare, right?

I'm thinking that there must have been some environmental factor making it more likely, such as a previous infection

it seems that if this were just two independent and extremely rare events in a poisson distribution, such a thing would just not happen

Bill Nye

In part 3 of him answering science questions he is asked how much shallower the sea would be if we take out all animals. He answeres less than youd think and follows this with the explanation that fish are mostly made out of water. While i agree that its probably not going to be much displacement - many waters compared to little maritime life - the notion that fish are basically "all water" doesnt matter since water displaces water. Its about volume isnt it ?

Climate change and bud burst

No.13589843 ViewReplyOriginalReport
My grapevines are hitting bud burst earlier and earlier every year. I'm in the southern hemisphere. This year they started on August the 24th meaning spring had not began and I'm still getting frosts. This year happened to be the coldest and wettest winter I have ever experienced. These two things mean my vines are fucked the frost has nuked their shoots.

Bud burst is meant to be triggered by the warming when coming out of winter. We had one moderate day with a max of 18 celcius after a storm which dropped 140mm of water in two days and boom new shoots triggered. Then the frost hit them 3 days in a row. In my opinion this shouldn't be enough to trigger it. Most of my friends vines went between the 26-30th of August after having a frost in the morning. Why is this occurring during the coldest winter in memory? We had record snowfall this year not seen in over 100 years. In some places it snowed where it had never snowed before so why did my vines shoot?
