No, species as a word for groups of similar things was used before it had a scientific definition, and the definitions that came later fit badly on the groups that were already established and so several were proposed and everyone is confused.
Life also doesn't work with discrete elements beyond the individual, so taxonomy will always be come apart at the seams.

This is an ontological issue, in reality it doesn't matter how we describe species at the boundaries
It's a fuzzy category, like almost all our other words
All that matters is that I can say "that's a tiger" and you know broadly what I mean
There's no way to give a rigorous definition that doesn't have weird boundary cases, and most taxonomists know this

If you think species exist and can be specified then please answer:

The tree of life is one made up of individual organisms. Species are just a circle we draw around current branches of that tree. They are ultimately a little arbitrary, the labels serve to communicate information that isn't perfect

I try to learn math but, after a while, I forget the concepts I don't use. That includes some parts of HS math, calculus, probability, analysis etc. I don't forget everything per se, I can recreate it easier once I read again (and I remember the basic stuff), but it's pissing me off how much effort I put in and it evaporates.

I have had this problem until second year uni
Use spaced-repitition, something like anki works great, I put maybe 5 questions per lecture, and spent some time adding some cards for basic stuff like probability theory, derivative rules, trigonometry etc
Shit has really paid off
