Guess I'll answer. Other anons have pointed out that with art, any artist can make a male look exactly how they want with little to no imperfections. I believe art principles you find in moe art when applied universally to male and female characters (large eyes, small noses, small mouth and chin) can cause the viewer to see characters as part of the same "species." When a model sheet has a shota have the same facial shape and identical body type of a loli then of course they will be interpreted as the same thing. This happened with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic when moe facial proportions were applied to the ponies. It's really not too difficult to understand why someone would be interested in something 2D but not in 3D.

Because I like shota but I just see it as is, cute drawings of cute boys.
