I think I was a little on edge from anons saying stuff like "you are just a cuck who is a slave to the original series" when I explained I didn't like 4.0.

I wanted to make it clear that a part of me really loves Eva (again, seen the show over 10 times, and each of the rebuilds several times).
I'm also a film fag in general, so this isn't like I was obsessed with Eva particularly: I spend a lot of time with any movie or show that resonates with me. There's several movies that I have watched over and over and mediate and even take notes on to try and understand. There's several movies I've watched over 20 times, to try to fully understand. At one point when I was younger I wanted to be a director.

I guess what I'm trying to communicate to the dorks is that I like Eva without liking EVERYTHING about it. I'm perfectly comfortable rejecting 4.0. I don't think I'm a huge fan of the rebuilds, maybe with the exception of 3.0: the rebuilds come off as aesthetically inferior to me.
Evangelion in general I've started to think is overrated.

And I'm comfortable enjoying Kawoshin fan art despite how my feelings towards the series have evolved.

Again, thanks for the thoughtful kind response. I'm alright.

Disagree with and go on your merry way. I can't convince you of the right way of looking at this.
You say you hate me, some anon, just because I'm explaining to you that you got something wrong and to that I say again, it's you being way too emotional.
The truth is his character was not changed, like it or hate it. I don't self insert into Eva characters, I don't have strong feelings about any of them, I like kawoshin/shinkawo because they are cute together, rightfully iconic and very interesting in the story. I don't see anything in Evagelion that could be called worthy of being a good LGBT or feminist work despite Anno trying to copy some stuff his favorie Shoujo/Josei/BL female authors do because he will never be a woman and Eva always was and will always be a product made by straight men for straight men.
You just got one core thing wrong and don't understand the characters for what they are so you are only capable of seeing Kaworu as either muh seme prince or a cosmic creep going by what you wrote and apparently disliked about Rebuild. You misunderstood and projected as any other Evafag does.
Was it you that said you liked 3.0? How funny considering everything was set up in 2.0 and in that one for what was going to happen to every character following the vague idea they had of the very simple dumbed down plot Rebuild has, except Asuka who was given some shitty motivation just in the last movie only.
Hope one day you can separate your own personal feelings from a piece of fiction to look at it objectively and give credit where credit is due. It won't happen for Eva for you though, it's clear that you'll forever hate it no matter what.

this is wrong, it's the same character that continues his life where it was left in the previous work, qworu is kaworu and him remembering the loops was not only always there since 1998 but it's the tool to connect him to the story since he never meets anyone until everything goes to shit so he had no real way to participate here when the goal is different. Here I agree with anon that they did a shit job with Asuka compared to someone like Rei since she is there from movie 2 but doesn't do much at all, and that goes nowhere in 3.0 to then rush the shit out of it in 3.0+1.0. this is irrelevant because the only thing that changed their plans was the tsunami and that only affected how and when the destruction was going to be showed. Anno and co had problems with the movie because they didn't know how to put together their ideas, not that they didn't know what to do

this one is right but what they meant back then and now was that Rebuild was going to be more in your face than NGE or EoE so it could be more commercial and could get a bigger new audience to grow the Evangelion brand. NHK had a poll and out of everyone if I remember correctly Eva managed with Rebuild to get more young people into it, unlike Gundam at the time (now Gundam managed to get a new generation into it thanks to Witch from Mercury) or Sailor Moon. Remember that unlike NGE/EoE, Rebuild yells at your face what it means and what it's doing, so you don't have to think too much about it.
