In her mindscape, Ashi desperately tries to fight Aku and it isn't working out, until Jack suddenly appears.
There he tells her of the time he was nearly consumed by Aku, then tells her to focus on everything she's experience since she found freedom, and the strength and joy she's obtained from it.
In the physical world, right as Ashi goes in for the plunge, she suddenly stops and Jack opens his eyes.
The blackness crumbles away, and Ashi is returned to herself.
She falls into Jack's arms, utterly exhausted. Aku is agape.
You could even have Ashi die ala Gurren Lagann's Nia, because too much of her was Aku; and by purging herself of Aku, she effectively kills herself.
