>>90817035I was thinking an episode of Marco Jackie and everyone dealing with a Star-less Summer, Marco exploring alone with his dimensional scissors, getting over everything and then first day of school Star's at school like nothing's wrong. And she's still eccentric, but Moon's definitely gotten an impression on her behavior. She's studying more, her magic is more direct, less impulsive, etc. And when Marco presses the issue, it makes her standoffish until he goes 'but this isn't the Star I know' and she blows up at him for it and outright tells him not to talk to her anymore.
Of course that makes him more curious so after tracking her down, we realize her actions have been her trying to fix things by keeping things formal to protect her friends. Her jealousy and childhood crushes got the book stolen, the Kingdom up in rebellion against the gentry, and Toffee got the power he did. By keeping herself in check, maybe those she cared about could be safer. But it only draws them in closer, and she realizes that she has to balance herself, not just to be impulsive and assume no consequences, but to also not to assume that avoiding issues completely doesn't make them better. She isn't the defining element of things working or not working, the girl that makes everything better or everything worse. She's just Star, and her friends still want her around.
