so do we know approximately what era it was when pearl picked up the mirror at galaxy warp?

the real-life version of watson and the shark that the show parodies was from 1778, which would mean pearl had a different outfit at that time and only had the mirror for at most 250 years

Repostan from last night.

>Blue = Known gems.
>Green = Gems from The Answer/Cheeseburger Backpack.
>Yellow = Unclear from the silhouettes.
>Black = Unseen until now.

Slightly unsure about Amethyst, but the her silhouette reminds me a lot of how amethyst looked covered in goo, and the color could be a hint for her, despite the other gems not having a consistent color scheme. It's also interesting that the gem with the three spikes at the front seems new, given how clear the silhouette is, and the pink gem circled in black towards the back has hair reminiscent of Centipeetle's.

Also, the "known" gems aren't "our" gems.

With how consistent they've been with the gem designs, actually going all the way back to Cheeseburger Backpack, I'm thinking that we'll at least see all of the gems circled in green eventually. As to what purpose they'd actually serve, who knows?

tried to brighten up the flashback so we can see rainboow dread's colors more accurately (the original frame is way darker and has a strong red tone over it). don't know if i did well tho.

Does steven actually have any character flaws? I honestly can't think of any and the only time he acted out was in Warp Tour.

He has a lot of pressure and has to live up to Rose in terms of being a leader and a Gem.
He's 14 but still has his childhood innocence.
Not as strong as the other Gems.
He's the very first of his kind.

Nah, it's probably just because Amethyst and Pearl's emotions and actions are more overt, so they don't really need to say they love Steven when it's readily apparent. With the size of the cluster, and the nature of the battle that we saw in Same Old World, it looks like Roses Rebellion was much larger than just a splinter cell of revolutionaries and traitors.

They didn't think they mirror was dead, they just thought that Lapis' gem was too cracked to properly reform. It's been shown that cracked/shattered gems still have some level of consciousness and that shards can be used to power objects, so they probably just think of overly-broken gems as non-sapient tools. They were surprised when she displayed signs of sapience because they thought that she was effectively gone, and wary of her because they didn't know where her allegiance lay.

They wouldn't really retcon things, Rebecca's said that she's planned things out from the start. They've shown that they're way too aware of things, and have made callbacks to extremely early episodes from some of the most recent ones (like some of the gems from the flashback having first appeared in Cheeseburger Backpack), so retcons are out of the question!

I dunno, I kinda feel like they chose the best option here.
I kept saying that Lapis should never forgive the CGs for imprisoning her and all that, and thinking that it'd be stupid/weird if Homeworld were the ones behind her imprisonment after all her angst towards the CGs.

This option though, that both sides contributed, is one I hadn't considered.

Now the blame is spread, but also it can be healed easier. She can come to forgive the CGs in this case by coming to understand the purpose of the rebellion (she seems like a high rank gem, likely not the kind that felt the need for revolution) that poofed her.
Plus, now she's set up for future shenanigans when we finally get to Bismuth, and the beef she'll have with Pearl is going to be more personally with Pearl rather than the CGs as a whole.

Eh, neither site is actually like that. SJWs are as representative of tumblr as /pol/ is of 4chan users. They're a small group of attention seekers that try and cause drama in discussions that don't relate to them. But because they're loud, and people love watching other's drama, both groups have come to be figureheads for their respective communities.

I'm probably going to provoke some anger for this, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was a significant (>20%) overlap between the SJWs pissing off artists on tumblr and the /pol/tards raiding threads over here. The two sites are too strongly linked, and the two groups too functionally similar, for me to believe they're actually independent.

There's been a slew of merchandise recently, they've actually been advertising the show regularly, and more towards the demographic that watches it; 12-34 ratings are consistently higher than ratings for younger demographics. My guess is that CN's marketing department finally woke up and smelled the money, but it took them an embarrassingly long time.

CN's marketing department has always been trash though, their only full physical releases were Samurai Jack and Powerpuff Girls, with some very hard to find releases of Courage and Ben 10 in Australia. It also takes them several years to roll out any major merchandise for their shows, with the notable exception being the original PPG. Which was a huge merchandising success. That they never even came close to trying again.

I've been thinking about that for a while actually. Not as an extension of Rose's powers, but as an extension of what appears to be his own latent psychic abilities.

A really neat episode would be if he briefly lost that power somehow, and people started acting more harsh towards him or even lashing out at him, and that when he figures it out it sends him into a moral dilemma about manipulation.

Something I just realized rewatching this webm.

I wonder if during the development/storyboarding for the episode this was originally how her gem got cracked, but they added some more backstory and this was just an artifact of it.

Just seems weird it's right on her gem rather than say, anywhere else.

Seems a bit too coincidental to me, but all in all meaningless.

Any actual geology experts here at /sug/?

I recently asked my dad where the gemstones we used to collect when I was a kid were at. Apparently they're somewhere in a box at the attic, but he already gave me this rock that was easier to be found.
Does anyone know what kind of rock/mineral this is? It looks like some sort of igneous rock exposed by some weathering and erosion. But I hardly have any knowledge about rocks though

Okay, after barn mates I really want Peri to be a side character again. It's clear the writers are making her goofier and goofier with each episode and her charm is wearing thin

I don't want her entirely gone from the show, just treat her like a greg or a Lars/Sadie. A character with an episode every once in a while but otherwise lets the Crystal gems star in their own god damn show.

Not really. Sure she changed a bit, being more friendly, open, energetic and with the occasional tantrum, but the old Peridot is still in there too.
