They can't just bud off and do their own thing, they have to recruit, early and often, and whatever legit marketing geniuses got l and g over the line apparently just gave up considering how the in the spotlight trans section of the movement has totally fucking snapped.
Like if there is one thing you could characterize the gay rights movement of the 90s and 00s with, it's discipline. They worked their asses off to get what they needed and that included reigning in their lunatic fringes and dressing up for the straights as hard as possible. What was essentially a massive advertising campaign has left its mark on LGBT culture in the us; basically everyone still uses ad terms and media techniques to get their point across, but with less talent than the previous generation, and less will to keep people like the 'Assigned Male" lady from making everyone look like pedophiles and groomers. So instead we have stale memes.
