>>99201849I liked homecoming. Before I detail why, I'll mention Spider-man 2 is hands down my favorite superhero movie, because you fags only see things in black or white.
Holland's Peter is easily the closest we've gotten to the comics. No, I don't care that he wanted to impress Tony, Peter has always had father figure issues, whether it was with Cap, Norman, Connors or yes, Tony. And anyone that thinks he isn't motivated by Uncle Ben's death is a retard that ignores his actual first appearance in the MCU when he's clearly talking about his guilt over Ben's death to Tony as to why he does this. Shit, even in Homecoming they hint at that with Peter telling Ned not to tell May because she's been through too much this year.
I liked that we had this Peter that was fucking up a lot and didn't know his place. I liked that he had this arc of realizing he has nothing to prove to anyone except himself. I liked how they showed Peter is quite intelligent beyond just telling us (Ock says in in SM2, while in ASM2, Peter has to watch youtube videos) by showing him making webbing in class and running circles on everyone in the quiz team.
This Peter really felt like a kid just trying to figure things out and for that I give it a lot of credit, especially after two previous versions where that "teenager" was almost 30.
I think everyone gets caught up in minor things like the OCs, black not-Mary Jane (who I thought was funny desu) and obviously, Iron Man despite having like 8 minutes of screentime. Was it overrated by the critics? Yeah, definitely. It's not even in my top 5 MCU and I'd rather watch the raimi movies. But it's still a good movie and miles beyond the ASM movies. The CGI does suck really bad on this one though.
