>>98483802Mogg is by far the most lucid and self aware of the main cast. He's completely aware that he's a massive piece of shit, but unlike pretty much every other cast member, shows absolutely zero remorse for that. He has zero desire to improve himself in any way shape or form. He's also shown to be aware that Megg isn't in love with him and is scared of being with him forever, and is aware that he's a hugely negative influence on both her and Owl. But he has no guilt over this, he's just terrified that they'll realize this themselves, and leave.
He's completely content with the life he's worked out for himself. Megg and Owl provide him with food, sex, drugs, entertainment, and no responsibility, no standards, he has everything he wants, and any change would jeopardize that. He's terrified of Owl leaving, because there goes his money, housing, food, and punching bag. He's terrified of Megg leaving him for obvious reasons. So he continues to drag them down, guilt them into staying with him, make Megg feel worse and encourage her drug use and drinking, discourages her attempts to improve herself. He actively keeps anyone else from improving themselves, or not continuing to be miserable and destroy themselves.
WWJ makes no active efforts to ruin other people's lives, all the damage he causes is purely passive, just a side effect of him being himself. He's still in love with Megg since high school, but has more or less accepted that they're over, doesn't really try and make any moves on her most of the time. His feelings change pretty frequently though too, he's confused. WWJ occasionally has moments of clarity where he realizes he's an awful person and actively, genuinely, sincerely hates himself for it. WWJ actively loathes himself as a person far more than any other cast member, and deservedly so. He's still a terrible, massively destructive person, but it's through he's drunken, inebriated, crazed path of destruction, that he lost control over decades ago.
