>>96965954>Making movies that a lot of people want to see isn't synonymous with good. How the fuck else do you make a movie profitable??? Just for a moment, I'll humor you. We'll accept as a given that Zack Snyder is divinely inspired and the most brilliant filmmaker ever to walk upon the Earth.
If nobody wants to see his latest work of sheer fucking genius that is over the heads of everyone with 15 buck in their wallet, the movie is going to be the most artistic bomb in the history of cinema.
Marvel movies, bad or good, are at least fucking fun. People who see them, for the most part, enjoy them. They make it an event... going and seeing it on opening weekend with them and their family and friends who have never read a single comic book cover to cover. They understand that, at a fundamental level, superheroes are patently ridiculous.
Sure, they have serious moments, followed by quips... but at least it isn't the cinematic equivalent of reading War and Peace, then writing an essay on it. There's nothing wrong with being an art film, but you're NEVER going to make a billion dollars at it.
You can sneer at Marvel all you want, but a LOT of people enjoy their movies... and that's a pretty apt definition of "good."
