For me, it is way stranger for someone to CHANGE her surname after getting married, and the society expecting for everybody to complain. Your name is your name, your married status shouldn't change that. Also, all the paperwork of having to change your name in your identity card, your health number, your bank accounts...
So, if Your Father is John Smith Brown and your mother is Andrea Willianson Richards you are called Anon Smith Willianson, and your child will inherit Smith, in his first or second place depending by your gender.
TLDR: you say having two surnames is retarded, I say having one is more retarded, involves more paperwork, and is misoginistic.
