You make the mistake of thinking I dislike TCW, when I merely dislike the people who like TCW while disliking Rebels, when they are virtually the same show made by the same people.

I guarantee you that for Filoni's next show, all these "I only watch mature children's cartoons for mature children such as myself" people will rush to the defense of Rebels as sufficiently dark and edgy while disparaging whatever space fantasy series for 12 year olds Filoni comes up with next, while those of us enjoying Rebels will enjoy all three cartoons.

It's literally the current ongoing tv series, despite most normies only watching the movies, the majority of canon worldbuilding is always going to come from tv. I think the problem is whenever you bring up "Rebels does not kill anyone important" alot of people will say "WHAT ABOUT COMMANDER SATO DUDE HIS SACRIFICE WAS DEEP". Commander Sato was such a minor character I didn't not feel anything when died. While TCW had characters who were only around for 15 minutes and by episodes end they died but their death felt much more impactful.

Thats just a different type of storytelling. Rebels is smaller scale focusing on a smaller group of characters, whereas TCW was an anthology show.

They're not cancelling it, the show is just coming to a natural end of its story. The new show is a show we've known Filoni has been working on for a while, IIRC since close to the time it was announced he was promoted to the Head of Animation at Lucasfilm. The new show won't be revealed for 2 years.

I don't hate her. Literally the first thing she did when getting control of Star Wars was let Lucasfilm Veterans form a story group because she knew she was never going to be a George Lucas figure. She took a step back and now provides a most maternal role just making sure all the experts are cranking things along smoothly.

Being the figurehead, she gets the focus of a lot of hate, specifically by deluded people who adamantly hate post-2014 Star Wars on principle, but the most interference she seems to have had beyond generally promoting female-led stories, was firing Lord, Miller and Trevorrow. And those were both decisions that will ultimately be for the best.

The only mistake I think she truly made was settling for JJ a second time, but even that was likely done under pressure, having fired two movies directors and production for IX getting closer and closer. She played it safe out of fear, I'd bet.

We know she is very supportive of Star Wars tv, teasing plans to still get to live-action some day, and she likely gave the OK for giving Filoni more control and a bigger budget for his next show, so yeah, I don't really give a fuck about Kaykay, she can keep sitting in the back. She is actually smart enough to know that taking a backseat will keep heat off of her, and that's fine by me. People rabidly hating her as if she was the new George Lucas seem convinced that everything they don't like is because of her. Bad Rebels episode? This is KK's fault. Forces of Destiny? KK conspiracy! Visceral shutting down? KK is conspiring with EA!

I go to /pol/ and I'm pretty hard right. I don't think Lux's dreamers are anywhere near as bad as Antifa. They seem relatively benign compared to Saw's Partisans, which I struggle to find a real-world analogue for considering just how brutal and ruthless they can be. That's just wrong. Star Wars is not a endless universe with an infinite amount of possibilities. Star Wars is very small and closed. Not that I actually mind, I like Star Wars for that too, but you can't make people believe anything is possible in the Star Wars universe, because the movies will always be more or less about the same story of Skywalker, Jedi, Rebellion, etc

Someone said the other day that they wished that Lucasfilm had just waited till they had a real idea for a Sequel Trilogy and just done anthology movies until then, and I agree.

Rogue One was great, and Solo will be good for what it is, but I just do not see a good story that can be pulled from the wreckage of TFA.
Kylo is interesting, but that's about it. Fisher can no longer act and is also dead, Rey is not a character in any way, it's just rebels v empire 2, etc.

They should just admit that they rushed it for the shareholders and start over.

TFA was a fine, though heavily flawed story, that set up a story with plenty of room for growth.

I like Mon's New Republic being naive and idealistic. It makes perfect sense for the remnants of the Empire to form up and try to rebuild as something new under Sheev's dream.

Now that Han is out of the way, I think everything's going to be fine. Han's presence is really the only part of TFA that didn't work for me.

Neither do I. I'm not a fan of how the trilogy began, and even if they are able to salvage a middling interlude with TLJ, I don't see a proper future for it.

Starting over is an impossibility though, these products have been made and they move forward. Major productions cannot be stopped.

Thanks man, those are probably my two favorite as well. I stuck with the McQuarrie piece because it's a perfect representation of classic Star Wars imo, without being married to any one time period. The ANH cover is so intrinsically New Hope that I don't think it would work for a book that has CW and post-Jedi stories in it.

And my point was that *early* TCW Anakin was both a different and worse character. And doesn't become better until he starts acting like the Anakin from the Prequel Trilogy.

Franky I don't think they should have kept anything involving Anakin other than the Geonosis arc before the season three finale canon.
He's just a straight up different person up to that point.

My personal theory based on inteviews with Filoni is that George didn't really get excited about the show in a big way until a little while in- and possibly directed them to bring Anakin back in line with his movie personality.

Qui-Gon was clearly important to Anakin, but he was more important for what he represented, a new life. Anakin would be grateful to him but he didn't develop the same bond with him that Obi-Wan did. Anakin facing Maul wouldn't have the same weight.

I always figured it'd be a moment where Sabine let's her guard down and impulsively reacts to one of Ezra's jokes with a smile and/or giggle.

Kinda like attached - Sabine usually keeps Ezra in check and speaks her mind, but she loves that goofy nature of his at the same time, hence the smile.

I'm serious about the hand holding too. I don't expect it to happen in a real romantic sense though. More like Ezra will probably get worked up over something Lothal/Force/Rebellion related and she grabs his hand and talks to him to calm him down. I listened to the audiobook and I really enjoyed it. It didn't make Phasma much more compelling as a dynamic character, but it shined a light on her bad-assery and her ruthlessness. Really looking forward to her fight with Finn.

I actually enjoyed the new characters the book introduced more. Charming and an interesting look at First Order life.

It really sells how Ezra and Sabine have awesome chemistry and how they play off their quirks. Sabine keeps Ezra in check with her sardonic quips, while Ezra gives Sabine an opportunity to make those jokes.

It goes the other way too - Ezra approaches her when she's lone and doubtful, and she pulls him away and sets him straight when he gets disillusioned.

Ezra walking up to Sabine during the beginning of Heroes of Mandalore, and having Sabine freely talk to him about the sad history of her planet was a good show of this.

Baze was literally a fat monk who only recently has even taken up firearms.

Did you want him to cry in his fucking suit or something? Anakin is dead, the first arc of the comic was all about burying any-and-all emotions Anakin might muster for this exact reason that he wont show any emotion when tasked to hunt down his old friends and mentors.
