>>95540612It's funny because there's all this bitching and moaning about Japan's animators not being paid much yet they are still paid enough that the west considers them "expensive" as an outsourcing option. Korea, China, and the Philippines are the main choices for outsourced animation because wages for animators there are pennies, you can stretch a very thin budget over a lot of episodes if you just ship it out to Seoul.
There's quite a few anime being made now that don't have any foreign outsourcing though. Lots of onshore outsourcing, to other anime studios, but not to foreign animation companies. In fact that's how many smaller anime studios make their living: not by producing TV shows themselves, but by doing subcontract work for other anime studios working on TVs or movies.
