Deformation is a key principle of good animation. A lot of the best animations out there have countless crazy frames if you single them out; Loony Toons, Disney, and especially stylized anime, which RWBY definitely falls into the vain of.
It's actually a casualty of many new animation methods; while cheaper, more efficient and "cleaner", it creates a more bland or even "souless" product. A damn shame really.
But it's nice to see something like RWBY still recognize it's importance.
