So we know that a New Mutants movie is in the works and that it will have the traditional NM team, however, when will it be set?

Rumours say McAvoy will be Prof.X in the film and that the film will have a Stranger Things vibe, suggest the film will be set in the 1980s.

But in Logan, it is strongly implied that there is a safe-haven for mutants across the border, and Laura and these kids aka the "new mutants" as Charles refers to them as, will have a home there.

So will the New Mutants movie be set in the past? Present? Logan future? Alternate timeline?
