I don't know if it's just that I haven't seen New Star in a long time or what, but I'd give all the new episodes a solid 8 on this first watch. All good.

Baby was probably the best. I also enjoyed Trickstar more than most seemed to.

Raid the Cave almost seemed a bit pointless, save for the conversation with Glossaryck and Star's spying portal. Trickstar was fun, I guess. Baby gave some much needed insight on how Queen and King Butterfly are handling this aftermath, and Running with Scissors is starting to make me think that the plan is to train both Star and Marco now, as Hekapoo would have acted sooner instead of later about her stolen scissors.

At the council it was a serious matter so she had to be serious

But this episode it was a human that had her scissors so this wasn't really an urgent matter and because of that she could have some fun

I actually just rewatched the "Magic High Commission" scenes from Page Turner because Hekapoo was a lot of fun in her most recent appearance, but I'd remembered her and the others being pretty dull and unmemorable outside of the manchild Rhombulus.

She really only has like 3 lines in her first appearance so you can't really get a sense of her personality then. I guess the whole "time-out corner" thing shows her as sort of sassy, and at one point when Rhombulus is complaining or something she yells something like "You out!"

Probably less serious when off council duty.

I think the one on the bottom right could have worked well too, but yeah, none of the others really match the personality she has in the episode.

I liked it, more than Raid the Cave (which was definitely a necessary episode, but more in terms of "this is why we're not doing a star vs. ludo episode right now, okay?" than deep lore).

It was fun; I like seeing things from other dimensions that aren't recurring characters from Mewni etc.

I have a feeling they might dump it if their Ducktales reboot or whatever turns out to be more popular. Though there was that tweet from Adam saying "4" that's still unexplained (not referring to the 4 livechats either, since he found about those after he made that tweet).

Also I'm sort of getting the sense that since Daron is the first woman to make a non-preschooler Disney cartoon in like 2 decades they don't want to look like they're screwing her over, and so are giving it kind of a longer run than I think anyone honestly expected.

They might cancel it after Season 3 but since that's already confirmed and halfway finished it'll still be around for a bit.

I think they realize no one watches the channel and so are trying to promote their various streaming services or whatever by releasing it all quickly. It also helps close the long-ass gap between the two seasons a bit.

Suppose Star had followed Marco into the portal about 4 minutes earlier. So while Marco is chasing down Hekapoo, Star is chasing down Marco.

Once she catches him and sees that Marco is older, Star realizes how time flows faster in this dimension and realizes that can work to her advantage. If Marco asks her to use her spying spell to find the real Hekapoo she claims that she can't tell the difference between the clones and the original so they'll have to do it the hard way. Thus Star gets to spend years with Marco with no Jackie around. Soon Star realizes that Marco has forgotten all about Jackie. So she took extra issue with it being Marco who was abusing her stolen personal pair of scissors without permission, and then even talked shit at her and actually had the arrogance to act like Hekapoo's personal pair was his now and talk about how he was gonna earn them.

H got pissed off and decided to teach him a lesson. My guess is she fully just meant to make Marco see his place, understand that he was WAY out of his depth, that dimensional scissors aren't for his kind, and send him home, humiliated.

He remembers how to do some things and what he experienced but it also feels disconnected like a dream.

The other scenarios would be interesting, but since we know almost for sure the show wouldn't follow through with them since the main Star plot takes priority, 1 is the only scenario that would fit in with the show continuing as normal.

Or is literally none of this going to matter and he's going to be back to normal next episode? Fuck this is totally the kind of joke they'd do, it's all not going to matter, but the show would be way better if it actually had a major impact on Marco.

As someone in between the ages of both Marcos I was just glad to see him older than me for a bit.

I don't at all see this show as a guilty pleasure or anything because I think it is decent, but it feels weird knowing I'm almost a decade older than the main characters.
