I know it's projecting real world value on to a fantasy world, but it's still valuable for understanding why the Demiurges fail despite their power. Not to mention why they are all insane as shit despite having everything they could ever want. Cognitively, we require a guidepost to properly navigate our lives. The world is complex as shit and endlessly full of new surprises, after all. Except you can't be your own point of reference. It physically does not work that way. You'll naturally end up in strange places when you have no idea where you are going.
