>>89116379The whole thing was funny, actually, because i got to see the whole meltdown in places like Comicvine where Scott Lobdell would do his little interviews.
Basically, Lobdell got settled with the characters: Red Hood, Red Arrow and Starfire, because before the reboot they're all in very bad places continuity wise.
He didn't knew what to do with Starfire, but he HATED her relationship with Nightwing because it reminded him of his failed marriage. There were tons of fun interviews where he'd vent about about exes aren't supposed to be friends and how exes poison each other's lives and shit like that.
He liked to tease the idea of showing the three characters in a polyamorous relationship and got tons of positive feedback because of it. He even promised he'd do it. Then he vented about Nightwing and exes.
When issue 1 was published and the whole backlash thing happened, oh boy, was he surprised. He'd always complain saying he was a feminist and the most diversity-pro writer in the business. That he wanted to show Starfire as a empowered and liberated woman who can fuck anyone she wants because she owns her body, not Nightwing. Then vented about exes again.
It was a fun ride.
