Tons of their goods would be impacted by no longer having freedom of movement, the sudden removal of federal military bases would have a pretty big impact on their economy, they'd basically become a dumping ground for immigrants while a lot of their more productive citizens would take the opportunity to leave and remain part of the US, and they'd have a lot less leverage in international trade without the US military and US government backing them at the table
This isn't even getting into if it's a hostile secession, in which case their national guard, even if it decided to actually fight for them against the federal government (hint: It probably wouldn't) would stand absolutely no chance
California isn't going to secede. What's going to happen is that they'll have a minority of the population that grumbles about it every time something political doesn't go their way. You know, like Texas has done for over a century with absolutely nothing happening
