1. Don't try to micromanage every last creative aspect of your show. You're only one person.
2. Nobody cares about your older woman fetish. It's not worth wasting 15 or something episodes on
3. Girls rule/boys drool is something that should have been left behind when you finished grade school
4. Fan feedback/ideas are rarely a good idea unless NWMM but then that was retconned in one episode anyway

If you let them get away with it, more will come. Sometimes even worse.

It's like letting Steven Universe fans like their show without reminding them how bad it is. Eventually they will be convinced that it is actually good. You can't let that happen.

Thanks to Hirsch's direction for the show, two of the best characters of the show got fucking ruined by sheer incompetence.

Mabel became a self-serving bitch who nearly doomed everyone forever because she couldn't fathom anyone wanting to live their own life and never received any comeuppance or learned anything from it.

Bill, on the other hand, had all the charm he displayed in his first couple outings completely removed and replaced with a generic bad guy personality, ending with him falling for an absolutely idiotic Parent Trap ploy that he, a clever-as-fuck demon with omnipotent powers, couldn't see through.

5. Making the rich bitch into "le sympathetic tsundere character" spawns the most annoying, passive-aggressive, toxic shippers imaginable. That's two cartoons I liked about a brown haired shota whose fanbases were ruined by this pitfall.

It's a mentality I fucking despise in creators, that just because you get bored with something you make that gives you the right to just shit all over it and we're supposed to just lap all that shit up.

If you are tired of working on a story, fine. But there is no reason to just half ass the conclusion that your fans have been looking forward to, that's just fuckin rude. It's like if someone promised to give you delicious cookies for your birthday, then after a couple yeara decided to just vomit on a plate and say "Hey man, too bad if you don't fucking like it, I did this for you and you're really just being ungrateful."

How exactly are creators supposed to have any accountability, then? I mean, if you excuse shitty design choices with the excuse of "It's their show, deal with it", you breed the insipid mentality within the creator that they are king and that we are all just peasants who should be grateful we get anything at all. Fans should never run a show, that much is obvious. But it is the responsibility of the creator to see their creation through and to listen to what their fans love and hate about the show.

Creators need to be held to much higher standards than they currently are, cable TV or no. By silencing any dissenting opinion with "It's their show, they can do whatever they want" you continue to breed egotistical asswits who think they answer to no one but their own """"""beautiful"""""" imagination.

They are only responsible to the people that pay them money to make the show. And that's not you. If you want to be involved in the creative process, make your own show. Also, creators are responsible to themselves and to themselves only. They may be hacks or awful writers, but they are entitled to that. Just look at George Lucas. Speaking as someone who has in fact written stories in the past, you cannot write a story in a vacuum. At some point, you need to look towards who you are writing for and listen to their love and their hate. That is what it means to grow as a creative individual, without external feedback you're going to stagnate and your work is going to degrade in quality and cohesion until eventually you're left with a fucking charade of what your story once was.

In this age of the internet, it is easier than ever for TV show creators to get feedback and learn where they should and should not go based on the thoughts of people who love their story. But you, you encourage these people to plug their ears and ignore everything that comes their way because "muh creator is in control"?

Like goddamn, have you zero understanding of how artists evolve? Have you learned nothing from Dobson? And I mean sure, creators CAN ignore criticism, but doing so is the fucking death of creative growth and should NEVER be encouraged, only mocked and treated with disgust. I quite literally cannot understand why you would side with the egotistical "my way or the highway" asshats and tell the critic to shut the fuck up, I really can't.
