>>79192555They are always promising and never delivering. The old ones were cool, I guess, but very much a product of the 2000's. Even X2 is pretty cool, but suffers from being all about wolverine.
The new ones keep pussyfooting around. We've had 2 movies where beast isn't really beast except for 5 minutes each time, Xavier has walked, then been in a chair, then walked again, then been in a chair. Only in the end of his trilogy is he shaving his head. They are still milking JLaw, still no definite team (storm is gonna be a bad guy for most of this) and this movie is gonna end with the X-men team finally forming. But guess what!? gotta wait 3 more years to see them in action, but by then the contracts have expired and half of them are dead and not mentioned ever again, and the leader is channing tatum playing gambit, out of all people.
I hate bringing up the MCU as a comparison, but they've been around for a lot less time but they are the only real competitors as of now and they've delivered everything they've promised so far. You've seen pretty much what you've expected of them and they keep moving on. At the cost of having villains fast-tracked, sure, but things are moving forward and exploring new things. It's not just Magneto crossing the line between helping and not helping, prof X wanting and not wanting to lead, wolverine being basically superman instead of wolverine. There's been no 'weird' shit yet, and even DC, which started much later, is looking like it caught on already (see GotG, SS), just plain old boringness. The movies are good, I guess, but so fucking forgettable. I don't even remember anything about DoFP besides the QS and all the future deaths.
FOX needed a hard reboot.
Meanwhile Deadpool looks like it's going in the right direction costume and character-wise, even if I actually don't like the character, but it seems so separate to the rest and by the time FOX realizes this, everyone they've cast has fucked off and we're back to step 1.
