It's more like the character "condenses" into their more humanoid form. Like, you take a 100ft tall monster, and you shrink them down into a 12ft tall quasi-human, but the idea is that all that mass associated with the 100ft tall version is still there, just compacted into a way smaller space. So their body is ultra dense and powerful, and they have more control.
Then they get a second transformation that turns them into a 6ft tall demi-human (which in Anime aesthetics basically just means human + animal ears or something) and at this point they basically can, like, walk through solid rock as though it's made of wet tissue paper and can "Nothing Personnel, kid" like 50 people at once before anyone can react.
