>>120302623Learn how to recreate a style that's at a resolution you're looking for, that fits inside of an imaginary box, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, etc, and just make your own character instead in place of it. My first sprite was just a recolor of Naruto from Jump Ultimate Stars on DS many years ago but over time I just took what I like and improve how I placed the pixels until it looks good by eye. Basically, practice practice practice yada yada yada, but keep your scope small when you're just starting out. You'll need time to understand how to essentially "draw in pixel" like you'd draw in SAI/Photoshop/ClipPaint/etc normally.
Back then I had games and "self teaching" to get where I did, but thankfully these days you got Youtube as your friend now. There's this great sprite artist that does Sonic Mania quality work if you need a example of people's work ethics. Just keep in mind not to use this as a direct guide, just "food for thought" basically. Enjoy and good luck.
