Now, I agree with you on this to some extent, but Clark was basically a grown ass man when Pa Kent sacrificed himself to rescue a damn dog.
I can totally buy making this the argument when Clark isn't even old enough to drive yet, let alone weighing complex issues of morality, I get that. But at that point, Clark was old enough to start making decisions on his own and the way it was framed he would very well have bullshitted his way out of explaining how he didn't get sucked up into the tornado because he ran back JUST in time before the winds got into "suck you up and hurl your ass a mile" strength levels.
Hell, Clark could have let the tornado grabbed him and once he touched down he could have made up a story. "Damndest thing guys, I got thrown clear and landed in the lake/haybale/a tree/whatever."
Who was going to challenge that in that scenario?
