>>113374492This is one of the better episodes thanks to Amity. At this point, I simply find the little grump to be a more interesting, more fleshed out character than Luz. I've enjoyed her since her first scene, and this episode is no exception. Her showing off a softer side and us learning she actually regrets being standoffish towards Luz, but doesn't know how else to act around someone whose motives she just doesn't understand? And coming out of this episode fully aware that she's been a cunt in general and has to rein that in? That's some good shit.
Luz's antics with Amity's older siblings were entertaining, but as another anon said, the plot has been done to death. I spent much of it just waiting to see exactly what the tipping point would be for Luz, and questioning why she views befriending the older siblings Amity clearly has a grudge toward as an A+ method to winning her "rival" over. It was fun to see them mess with the books, but no strong feelings otherwise. The twins at least have the benefit of not feeling like complete scumbags, and their behavior in turn sheds some additional light on why Amity acts the way she does.
Most of my gripes come with the B-plot. Eda and King as a duo works, but they shine brightest in conjunction with Luz, and them as a trio hasn't seen that much use in the show so far. If the A-plot just got fleshed out a bit more to fill these 22 minutes, while the B-plot got its own episode starring the Owl House trio, that would have been stronger. As it is, it felt like an awkwardly tacked-on subplot ala Episode 3's. It had a good joke or two, but that's it. Which is a shame, because the designs for the babies and the Bat Queen were cool and deserved a bigger showcase. Oh well, Eda is probably gonna cash in that favor by blowing the obvious plot important whistle before season's end and we'll see her again then.
