The fascists didn't break the maginot line as is often said - they where simply allowed to go through it, by Belgium. Beglium beclared nuetrality during the 20s (30s?), thus meaning the line was a mute point.
France didn't have the economic boom of the fascists due to not using slave labor or slave soldiers, like the Germans did with the Czechs and Poles. If you recall the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan, where th German POWs are killed, they're not screaming "I washed my hands for supper", they're screaming "We're Czech, we're not supposed to be here."
These men and women, who conspired with the fascists, oftens acted as translators, informants for the SS police, and operated relay comfort zones in and around military bases. These women with shorn hair got people killed.
