Also, do you seriously think that birds are archosaurs yet their ancestors aren't? Dinosaurs, be they saurischia or ornithischia are by definition archosaurs, you can look at every single taxonomy book and you can see them listed under archosaurus among crocs, pterosaurs and also birds!
Speaking of birds, dinosaurs are still considered far too different from them, since they lack the anatomical traits that typically describe birds (such as a Carina, air sacs, pelvic bone shape, femur orientation, pigostyle and more). They are the perfect middle between a Reptile and a bird, but due to the lack of avian traits over the multitude of Reptilian traits, they are still considered Reptiles.
The only situation in wich you could call a dinosaur a bird is when speaking about late dromeosaurids, who can be referred as proto-birds, or when it comes to fundamental links like archeopterix or confuciosornis.
