I think they compliment each other. I like her default look, but enjoy the flashes of her demonic side as opposed to keeping her one way or the other.

I prefer the demon form, but while I think that the "clown" form is cute at times, but mostly a bit weird, it's nice to just have the demon form occasionally. Makes it more special.

It's interesting that Charlie's outfit remains constant in both forms. She keeps her ringmaster style showman outfit.

I.e she doesn't have a "demon suit".

Can you imagine her as a little demon, watching imported-from-mortal-world Disney cartoons and utterly enthralled with the positive messages? The cuteness would off the scale.

It's entirely possible her clown look is modeled after the Disney princesses she saw in her youth.

I just mean I'm pretty sure Charlie's personality is modeled after a Disney's princesses. Also her costume specifically resembles the ringmaster's in an old Disney cartoon ("Dumbo").

To use an analogy, Charlie's clown look is like Ryan Gosling and his accent.

One day Ryan decided his natural Canadian accent didn't sound tough enough, so he cultivated an idiosyncratic New York-sounding accent for himself. Over time, that accent became his default one.

Charlie saw a Disney princess on TV and decided her default appearance "wasn't her". So she manufactured a new visage for herself and it eventually became her appearance default.

she probably has a bit more of her father in her then he'd like. As in Lucifer rebelled against heaven so having his daughter go against the norm of hell wouldn't be too far off the mark. Plus Lucifer is still an angel even if he's a fallen one so maybe her angel blood is just showing through a little stronger then desired.
