It was always a mixed bag. Had some golden stuff when it was just scenes of Mr. Fingers living his life, but it'd often get self-conscious & gimmicky about how weird or mysterious it could be.
Back in the day I thought it was going to end with ep 4, and I still love the tone of that ending. Fingers just goes off on his dreamy little search for France, without a closeup of him cutting his hand or any cheesy crap like that.
Just feels like Firth could've made something meatier if he didn't rely so much on the same gimmicks for over a decade.
