>>104168916>Western comis while aren't big, their ip proved to be far bigger and lasting than any of the manga ip.This is the worst post in this thread. I'm not being hyperbolic.
I really can't comprehend how you can think that "bigger and longer lasting" ip's is somehow a POSITIVE of American comics.
You and I have such opposite perspectives on this that I'm worried that it's impossible for us to find any common ground.
If I was going to choose one thing I hate most about American comics, it would be the huge intellectual properties that dominate the industry.
I hate that Batman is always in the top 5 best selling comics no matter who's writing it.
I hate that Spiderman will never have a proper beginning and end.
I hate how the Marvel and DC universes are in an eternal stasis where everything that threatens the profitable status quo is retconned out of canon.
I hate hate hate how people buy comics based on which popular characters they can recognize on the front cover.
I fucking despise who Marvel and DC make most of the their money from things other than comics, so the comics ultimately end up as nothing more than glorified advertisements for fucking toys and game and films.
I truly hold the "bigger and longer lasting" franchises in utter contempt.
I can't express how strongly I disagree with you.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate "long lasting" things by default. One of my favourite manga of all time is Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and it's be ongoing for over thirty years now. It's older than I am!
But Jojo has been written and drawn by the same guy for all of those 30 years. It's not some Frankenstein multimedia franchise like Batman, with a different artist every 6 months, and different writer every 12 months.
Jojo's is art, not cancer like Batman.
I had a lot more to say, but I've reached the post character limit. Just know that I disagree with you so so so so fucking much.
