>>103924365I didn't say "it could've been anyone", I said Lapis didn't need to fuse with Jasper, and that she was punishing Jasper for something Jasper didn't do by trapping her in an abusive relationship because Lapis just wanted to have control over somebody else and use them to take her 5000 years worth of pent up anger over the mirror out on and make them suffer as much as possible, Jasper's attempt at using her as a "means to an end" as you say in Jailbreak is just what made Lapis get pissed off and act on her pent up anger/desire for control. I only brought that up because you questioned why someone would say Lapis has acted abusively.
She show's remorse for what she did to Jasper, and Steven, and Peridot, didn't say that the problem was she didn't either, the problem is that her feelings are essentially placed before all of theirs even when she hurts them or acts selfishly, and nobody ever addresses what she did wrong. In the case of Malachite, Lapis made Jasper go crazy and become dependant on fusion and is part of the reason Jasper felt depressed and worthless enough to feel like she deserved to get corrupted, and in the case of her unhealthy friendship with Peridot, she accepted Peridot's constant efforts to help and support her for so long but wasn't willing to do the same in return and put herself before everyone else by ditching with Peridot's home and belongings, leaving Peridot depressed and used up from wasted effort to keep Lapis appeased.
Jasper was not given help for the issues Lapis gave her at all, Peridot and Steven just spent the stretch of episodes between Raising the Barn and Reunited being sad that Lapis and the barn were gone, they didn't address why Lapis' relationship with Peridot was unhealthy or hold anything against Lapis for what she did.
Jasper's character suffers because she's turned into an emotional punching bag for Lapis and Peridot's character suffers because she's turned into an emotional foot stool for Lapis.
