Weisman has a very autistic tendency to go out of his way to change things that were kind of stupid in the comics but that nobody ever cared enough to fix until it became "the way things were." For example, why would a no-nonsense guy who goes out of his way to try and expose magical frauds unironically be named "Dr. Thirteen"?
Another example: In the show's background material, Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel, Jr. were both members of "the team", but they were named "Sergeant Marvel" and "Lieutenant Marvel" respectively. Establishing that change (because having your superhero name include your real name doesn't make any sense and "Captain Marvel Jr." is just a dumb name) was apparently important even though it never actually comes up anywhere at all.
