>>101872711Adam and Shiro have a very weirdly realistic relationship in this sense, where Shiro is ill and Adam is treating him through the lens of somebody who is becoming increasingly delicate. Adam loves Shiro, but they've obviously had these arguments before where Shiro wants to chase his dreams rather than retire and have the rest of his life as a civilian who can no longer go to space.
In the end, Adam decides he deserves better and cannot emotionally handle it, and Shiro decides that he needs to live his dreams whilst he can rather than be beholden to somebody else's dreams. It's sad, but it's obvious they had hit a crossroads to move beyond one another.
I like this, i'm impressed this was even a thing that was shown in a kids' series.
