How would it be masked as an adventure series as opposed to just being one?As in: a series is clearly meant to be a comedy, but is given makeover to *look like* it's something better, and potentially attract audiences which wouldn't go for the series, if it was a straight up comedy, but might give it a chance if it looks like action / adventure series.
Case in point: Gravity Falls (they clearly tried to cram as many joke as possible, thus completely ruining the plot)

What would be the opposite? Well:
Mystery inc - sure, there was a lot of awkwardly timed humor, but generally it felt like it was an adventure series from the get go
Symbionic Titan / Samurai Jack - sure, there is humor, but the series itself is not one big joke
tl;dr: comedy masked as an adventure is when there is far more comedy than adventure
