I don't care much for hard lore or continuity. At the same time however there's not being held down by decades old plots and then there's going well out of the way to retcon shit for unfunny reference jokes.

Simpsons doesn't have strict lore or continuity.
However I think blatantly contradicting well known moments like Homer and Marge's teen pregnancy is the best way to highlight how contrived and forced the new plots are.
It's the difference between having your run of the mill bad episode and then having a bad episode and making it remind you of when the show was good.

Yeah, Homer and Marge's early years were one of the few things that the show treated consistently. That they met in high school. That Marge dated Artie Ziff. That Homer was struggling and joined the Power Plant because he had no other option.
