When the reasoning is written out it makes sense but I can't say I find it personally appealing. If she feels overlooked I think it would make sense for her to wear even brighter colors or more jewelry. Instead the base of her outfit is plain in cut and color with all the attention grabbing elements being embroidered afterward which is significantly more work.
