I hate to break this to you but Jesus never wrote his own story, so he tends to come off different depending on the disciple writing him. I can, however, guarantee you that the RIP AND TEAR Jesus you're suggesting never existed either, because in none of the writings on him and a product of Crusadin' times and the like in order to rouse up the masses and free up the purse strings on funding escapades to the Holy Land. Jesus himself was leading a fundamental break from the Jewish teachings of the time but never raised any armies or advocated the violent overthrow of the moneylenders however eagerly chased them out of the houses of worship.
Now an argument could be made that Hippy Jesus is in the bible, after all "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" (the most popular version) and yet because of Original Sin EVERYONE had sin until he died on the cross. So no one should raise arms against anyone else. Of course after he wipes out that sin maybe, but you better make sure it's not a sin.
