I suspect they're fake and are just selling rips. Going into the disqus comments on a scanlation aggregator site is one of the least professional things I've ever seen.

Anyone know something I don't? If you think they're legit please bring some proof though, or we'll know you're a shill. They're clearly not above shilling.

It is but honestly that seems like it would be better than just issuing a takedown and having it pop up on some other aggregator anyway.
The rest of that does seem really sketchy but I really don't sign up for stuff like this unless it's properly established anyway, can't just be handing out my ID and shit to people who might have bad security measures.

Not them but I think it's more like while nobody is judging people for getting scans online from aggregators, but at least personally; because BL has a big history of getting shafted as far as licensing goes, I do my best to support that content in hopes of actually getting more.
Doesn't help that it feels like a more niche industry so very few potential customers to begin with.

Yen Press has done primarily explicit BL before. Seven Seas did The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese and they have the Ghost Ship label meant specifically for explicit things, but for now I'd mainly request "plot with porn" rather than "porn with plot" from them.

I'd say we should go for Nayamashii Kare or Deadlock.
Volumes 1 and 2 of Nayamashii Kare ranked pretty highly in Kono BL ga Yabai. Volume 3 actually got first place. It also comes from Tokuma Shoten who they worked with a long time ago on Wicked City (non-BL title). If they can reform ties with Tokuma Shoten then that opens the door for a bunch of stuff, on Chil-Chil various Tokuma Shoten LNs take 6 places in the top 10 overall.

Deadlock is another option from Tokuma Shoten. It's the 5th highest ranked LN on Chil-Chil and has a manga adaption. Other then Yes, No, or Maybe? this is probably the only other 'top 10' Chil-Chil title that western BL fans might have heard of. JUNE licensed the manga but seems to have dropped it after 1 volume.

The other series that comes to mind technically isn't considered BL but I think has some merit: Kyo Kara Maoh. It ship teases enough that the anime adaption is one of the (older) gateway series that got people into BL. It comes from Kadokawa who they have licensed from before.

I'm kinda sad that no one mentions Complex when talking about good old-school BL. Ch.1 (along with a couple of chararcters) suck but it uses its plot progression in a unique way. I wish there were more romance manga in general who utilize time skip in the way this one took.

None that I know of, I was just thinking. I'm considering scanlating a few things with a friend that's fluent on moonspeak, but the biggest thing holding me back is that I wouldn't want the mangaka to find out. I'm pretty sure they all already know about MRM and Mangago at this point, and the only way to avoid BL scans from ending up there is going sekrid.

Except that some of them do, specially now that both Mangago and MRM have been receiving a lot of negative attention on social media. I also really doubt manga authors are ignorant about the fact that their works are being pirated, I guess some of them are just more chill about it than others.
Honestly I'll probably just give up since no matter how much I dislike these fucking scrappers just the thought of moderating a Discord server makes me want to kill myself, so I guess no scanlation from me.

I prefer the Kuma one, but it's interesting to think about what localization actually is and the many different ways it can be done. I think that Kuma has much better proofreaders or maybe their translator is just a better writer. Meanwhile Renta is often a more direct translation so it can sound more clunky, and they do the first name thing. And of course, they have different attitudes when it comes to layouts and aesthetics.

Yeah, but when you translate that to English, calling people by surnames is as much weird. In my language, it'd be even rude; even when using polite plural form, it's very often used with the given name.
I get that in some romances, going onto first name basis is a big deal, but most of the time it doesn't matter.

On the other hand, to a westerner Japanese names and surnames sound the same.

There's plenty of titles there that I didn't like at all but thought deserved being there for getting brought up a lot. I've read several "good" examples from JP in the genre in an effort to like -or at least understand- it. But it's all the worst of regular yaoi with extra shit heaped on top. It's just a genre for teen girls who think they are too kinky or "different" for BL.

You're probably right about the violence. There's definitely a difference between the shonen style violence in the delinquent titles and the domestic violence Mike in Midnight Rain inflicts on the other guy, or the torture in Zankoku Na.

What do you think about Yuki to Matsu for warnings? It's very bloody and gritty at times, but because it's historical and so artistic, the bloodshed and medical scenes seem kind of natural to me.

People have complained about prostitution here at times, I remember it coming up about Rumspringa before. I think about Yatamomo too?
