I do remember though the first time they were introduced and I was like "whoa how the fuck do I do that"

I wish I could go back to those days. Currently doing PhD and it's all so tiresome

I can't draw for shit, my ring structures look kindergarten-tier.

Also got any tips on drawing resonance structures? I feel like I'm doing something very wrong because it's exhausting to do even just a few problems

Im doing my PhD and I always draw the line pairs on oxygen or Nitrogen. Think of them as little magnetd that will repel each other because same charge. If you were an electron, where in the molecule would you go for maximum comfy? Think of electron pairs as super turboautists that wanna be alone and electronegative atoms as huge spaces where the turboautists can be alone. Make sure all charges createf by resonance cancel out. For a non-4chan tier explanation like the one I just spewed out, I'll refer you to Organic Chemistry as a Second Language by Klein
